Reality Distortions
Reality distortions are one reason why glitch Pokemon may occur and are typically the natural reason for them to occur. There are certain Pokemon who have the ability to cause these distortions and may do so when disstressed or enraged - or they may be able to do in controlled environments when handled by a trainer.Reality disortions are exclusively observed by glitch Pokemon trainers and are also notable for beta Pokemon trainers and trainers of cross-dimensional Pokemon such as Ultrabeasts.

Temporal
Time travel is well recorded and researched with certain Pokemon. Pokemon which can do this are Dialga, Celebi, and certain Baltoy. They can be a residue of time travel or caused by two timelines overlapping - though the details are beyond the webmaster's understanding. It is believed that Chronal Stones used to turn Pokemon into their pre-evolved or beta forms result from temporal distortions.Temporal distortions can be disorienting to be in - but thankfully in the wild are rarely encountered and only occur when in the presense of Pokemon such as Celebi. This is why trainers are not advised to try to catch a Celebi no matter how rare it may be because of how time travel is a common defense mechanism.
Temporal dstortions may result in fossil Beta Pokemon more often, but there are several glitch Pokemon which can result from temporal distortions as well.
Because of its ease of obtaining, Baltoy is used the most in creating controlled temporal distoritions. It's also possible to train Balty or Claydol to detect temporal distortions. These usually require specialized training as it's very rarely an inheret ability of these Pokemon.
Spacial
There are a large number of Pokemon which can cause spacial distortions. Many people know of Palkia and Hoopa, but there are also Pokemon like Bronzong, Gengar, Unown, Solgaleo and Laluna, and the Ultrabeasts which have been observed to distort space. So can a majority of glitch Pokemon especially those which can use glitch abilities - and glitch dimensions and glitch cities are a result of these.Spacial distortions make it possible to cross to other worlds or places with in Ultraspace - though for a Pokemon to do this usually requires training and humans need to wear space suits or similar types of protection especially in Ultraspace so that the shifting atmosphere doesn't crush them.
While spacial distortions do not automatically result in glitch Pokemon, spacial distortions are one of the most common ways natural glitch Pokemon can occur. They also often result in Ultrabeasts, which are more common to Ultra Wormholes.
Glitch Pokemon which are at their maximum size (such as an 80 foot tall H Poke) are more likely to come from spacial distortions. This may result in them being far more dangerous than a normal glitch Pokemon, so extra caution is recommended when exploring them for glitch Pokemon.
Psychic
When under extreme stress, powerful psychic Pokemon can unintentionally distort reality to some degrees. This has also been noted in some ghost or dark types - but is far more common with psychic types and so these are still considered "psychic distortion".This also be done by Psychic in controlled situations without needing to be distressed, and some glitch hunters will have a powerful psychic Pokemon with them for these reasons - especially since most new glitch trainers are given a Pokemon which can teleport. This is the most common way of glitch hunting and most glitch professors offer these training to psychic types.
Psychic distortions are infamously the potential reason for why the Kanto region experienced such an influx in glitch Pokemon over a decade ago. Though never confirmed as the Mewtwo Project wasn't discovered until years later, the intense creation of Mewtwo lines up with when Glitch Pokemon began to appear in the region and the distorting behavior when stressed has been noted as being very extreme with Mewtwos later captured by trainers.
Glitch Dimensions
Some glitch Pokemon have the ability to create Glitch Dimensions (also called Glitch Zones, Glitch Plains, etc). These are areas which experience extreme distortions and where glitch Pokemon appear. These can be very unpredictable and unqiue for the Pokemon that triggers it.Glitch dimensions typically have a visual effect to them - most commonly colors being wrong or silhouetted. Objects or other things can appear to be in one place but be physically elsewhere, and it's also possible to just not be able to see at all in a Glitch dimension. Sounds are also commonly distorted with random sounds being able to be heard.
These can also be dangerous and it's strongly advised to fly or teleport out of them if one is unprepared.
